FAQ

Answers before you pick up the phone.

Ten honest answers to the ten questions growers ask us most. Don't see yours here? Call the number at the bottom of the page or email us — we reply the same day.

  • Are you licensed and insured?
Yes. Strata UAV holds FAA Part 107 Remote Pilot certification, FAA Part 137 Agricultural Aircraft Operator certification, CA DPR Qualified Applicator credentials, and aviation liability insurance. We can provide certificates of insurance naming you as additionally insured on request.
  • What crops do you work on?
We regularly work on avocado, citrus, vineyard, berry, nursery/ornamental, and row crops (tomatoes, peppers, leafy greens) across North County San Diego. If your crop isn't listed and it grows in San Diego County, give us a call — we probably fly it.
  • What's included in the “free farm scan”?
A free multispectral scouting flight over your entire farm with our Mavic 3 Multispectral, a processed NDVI health map of every block, a written per-acre quote for the spray program you're considering, and a short walkthrough of the results. All at no cost, no obligation to book. It's how we prove the value of what we do before you spend a dollar.
  • How far do you travel?
Our service area is within 100 miles of Carlsbad, California. Typical jobs are in North County San Diego (Fallbrook, Valley Center, Ramona, Escondido, Vista, Bonsall, Pauma Valley, Temecula). Beyond 50 miles, we may add a travel fee — always quoted upfront.
  • What chemicals can you apply?
We apply any EPA-registered and CA DPR-approved pesticides, fungicides, herbicides, foliar nutrients, and fertilizers that are labeled for aerial or unmanned application. We do not source or supply chemicals — the grower provides them or we coordinate pickup from your preferred supplier.
  • Can you do organic applications?
Yes. We work with OMRI-listed products and can support CCOF-certified organic operations. We don't certify organic status — but we supply the application records you need (product, EPA reg #, rate, coverage map, weather, license #) so the records stay in your Organic System Plan. Let us know your certification requirements and we'll coordinate on record-keeping.
  • What happens if it rains or gets too windy?
We follow California DPR regulations (3 CCR §6614, drift prevention), every pesticide label's wind and weather requirements, and our own internal safety standards. We don't apply during active precipitation, and we ground the drone when conditions exceed what the product label allows — typically 10 mph or less. If weather cancels a scheduled job, we reschedule at no charge. Our re-fly guarantee also covers coverage gaps caused by issues on our end.
  • How do I pay?
We invoice after each job through our field service system. You can pay by ACH (preferred for jobs over $500, ~1% processing) or credit card. Payment terms are net 15.
  • Are you new? Do you have references?
We're a young company operating new-generation equipment. As we complete our first jobs, we'll publish customer testimonials on this site. If you'd like to be one of our founding growers, ask about our early-customer program — we offer meaningful discounts on first-season work in exchange for feedback and permission to feature your farm in our case studies.
  • How do I book a job?
Click “Book a free farm scan + quote” on our homepage, call us at 1-619-200-3143, or email Support@StrataUAV.com.
